Baseball Game Preview: Torrington Raiders vs. Ansonia Chargers

The Torrington Raiders will head out to challenge the Ansonia Chargers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Torrington's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Ansonia's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Torrington is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs last Saturday, they were much more limited against Seymour on Wednesday. They fell 6-2 to the Wildcats. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Ansonia hadn't done well against Naugatuck recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Chargers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Greyhounds a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Chargers have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ansonia now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Torrington, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Torrington couldn't quite finish off Ansonia in their previous meeting back in April and fell 4-2. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
