Baseball Game Preview: Maloney Spartans vs. Plainville Blue Devils

The Maloney Spartans will challenge the Plainville Blue Devils at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Southington hit Maloney with a five-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans fell 9-6 to the Blue Knights. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Blue Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Plainville earned a 7-4 win over Rocky Hill on Monday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Terriers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Plainville now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Maloney, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.

Maloney skirted past Plainville 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
