Basketball Recap: Innovation Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Innovation and New Smyrna Beach squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Innovation had to settle for second. They took a blow against the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas, falling 76-47. The Bulls' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it eight in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Innovation lost, don't look at Carlos Naranjo. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 13 on his way to 19 points. Jadis Santamaria was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Jd Fieser had an outrageously good game for New Smyrna Beach as he shot 5-for-9 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Fieser a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Mclaughlin, who posted seven points and eight boards.

Innovation's loss dropped their record down to 3-22. As for New Smyrna Beach, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
