Football Game Preview: SA Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Reagan Rattlers

SA Roosevelt hasn't had much luck against Reagan recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. The contest will give SA Roosevelt their first taste of in-conference action this season.

Two weeks ago, SA Roosevelt came up short against Judson and fell 28-21.

Despite the defeat, SA Roosevelt saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ernest Smith rushed for 129 yards and one TD. Xavion Chambers helped out on the ground, rushing for 91 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Meanwhile, Reagan also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Temple by a score of 40-33. Even if the Rattlers couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

SA Roosevelt will have to keep a close watch on Cody Ragsdale and Rc Wagner, a pair of players who had a big impact on Reagan's prior game. Ragsdale rushed for 53 yards and one touchdown, while Wagner picked up 65 receiving yards and one score.

Reagan's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for SA Roosevelt, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-3.

SA Roosevelt suffered a grim 31-7 defeat to Reagan when the teams last played back in September of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Rough Riders were down 24-0.
