Baseball Game Preview: St. Frederick Warriors vs. Oak Grove Tigers

St. Frederick and Oak Grove are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The St. Frederick Warriors will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Oak Grove Tigers at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While St. Frederick's win against Ouachita Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. St. Frederick narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Ouachita Christian 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since February 26th.

AIDEN MELNA spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks. He is becoming a predictor of St. Frederick's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 4-12 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, St. Frederick saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was CARSON DAY, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. KADE EMBANATO also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Oak Grove waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Dragons.

Oak Grove's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for St. Frederick, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13.

St. Frederick came out on top in a nail-biter against Oak Grove in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Does St. Frederick have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oak Grove turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
