Baseball Recap: Garinger Takes a Loss

After flying high against Olympic last Wednesday, Garinger came back down to earth. The Garinger Wildcats lost 16-1 to the West Mecklenburg Hawks on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Diego Camero made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.

Garinger's loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for West Mecklenburg, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garinger will venture away from home to square off against West Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Mecklenburg, they are taking a road trip to face off against Chambers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West Mecklenburg's pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Chambers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
