Basketball Recap: Virginia City Takes Down Mineral County in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Virginia City had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Mineral County Serpents 76-54 on Friday. The Muckers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, Mineral County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Quentin Isom posted ten points and six assists. What's more, Isom posted four rebounds, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaeden Majano, who had 11 points and five boards.

The win (which was Virginia City's sixth in a row) raised their record to 22-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points over those games. As for Mineral County, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-15.

Virginia City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-48 defeat against Smith Valley on the 15th. Mineral County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
