Baseball Recap: Clinton County Bulldogs vs. Owensboro Catholic Aces
Clinton County had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 9-8 to make it four. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Owensboro Catholic Aces. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 11-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2021.
As for Owensboro Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.
For Owensboro Catholic's part, Luke Quinn tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. Quinn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Jaxson White was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clinton County will head out to challenge Adair County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Owensboro Catholic, they will venture away from home to face off against Apollo on Tuesday.
