Basketball Game Preview: Wellsville Lions vs. Haverling Rams

The Wellsville Lions will face off against the Haverling Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wellsville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Haverling likes a good challenge.

Wellsville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 78-55 margin over Greece Olympia last Monday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Spartans are ranked 514th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Haverling came up short against Hornell on Monday and fell 71-60. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now lost seven in a row.

Wellsville's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points over those games. As for Haverling, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Wellsville strolled past Haverling in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 60-42. Does Wellsville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Haverling turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
