Basketball Game Preview: Whitewright Tigers vs. Celeste Blue Devils

Whitewright is 1-7 against Celeste since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Whitewright Tigers will host the Celeste Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Whitewright is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Wolfe City: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Whitewright blew Wolfe City out of the water with a 68-30 final score. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Celeste waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Tigers 70-29.

Celeste has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Whitewright, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3.

Whitewright came up short against Celeste in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 38-29. Can Whitewright avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
