Basketball Recap: Walsenburg Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Walsenburg took on Del Norte on Saturday. The Panthers took a blow against the Tigers, falling 50-20. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Tigers are ranked 124th).

When it comes to explaining why Walsenburg lost, don't look at Adrianna Bobian. Despite the final result, she posted ten points along with six boards and three steals. That was a full 50% of the Panthers' points, marking the fifth time in a row Bobian has had more than a third of the team's points.

Walsenburg has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Del Norte, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Walsenburg will host Rocky Ford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Del Norte, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hoehne at 1:00 p.m. on the 21st.
