Basketball Recap: Penney Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Richmond, Penney was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 53-44 victory over the Lawson Cardinals. The Hornets pushed the score to 47-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cardinals cut but never quite recovered from.

When it comes to explaining why Lawson lost, don't look at Isaac Willoughby. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 13 en route to 20 points. The match was Willoughby's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Phipps, who posted six points and six assists.

Penney is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. As for Lawson, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Penney will welcome Chillicothe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chillicothe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season. As for Lawson, they will host Stewartsville/Osborn at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lawson also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 50.5 points per game.
