Softball Recap: Cannon County Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cannon County extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday, bumping them up to 19-10. They never let the Marion County Warriors get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The Lions' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.

Not much got past Annabelle McPeak, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Marion County off the board. McPeak has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Addi Smith was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cannon County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 14-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

As for Marion County, they moved to 23-8 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On Marion County's side, Brynna Thomasson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Marion County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Albany Harris, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As of now, neither Cannon County nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
