Softball Recap: Riverdale Snags 12th Win in Last 13 Games

Riverdale got themselves on the board against Seneca on Friday, but Seneca never followed suit. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Fighting Irish. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since March 25th.

Katie Cox was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Amaya Lopez-Hernandez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Riverdale is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Seneca, their loss dropped their record down to 29-1.

Looking ahead, Riverdale will challenge Manteno at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Seneca, they will take on Biggsville West Central in a tournament on Friday. The Fighting Irish's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Heat have averaged an impressive 11.5 runs per game this season.
