Bethany Community got themselves on the board against Carver on Friday, but Carver never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Yellowjackets with a sharp 12-0 victory. Considering the Wolves have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jacob Schick looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Bethany Community let Brooks McDowell and Jesse Tucker run wild. McDowell scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2, while Tucker scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave McDowell a new career-high. Brooks Lawson was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases.
Bethany Community has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carver, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the defeat, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Bethany Community wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-9 victory against Bishop McGuinness on the 1st. As for Carver, they will head out to take on Cornerstone Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
