Football Recap: North Starts Season with Win on the Road

North had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 73-0 victory over the Camelback Spartans. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jizzelle Escoffery, who threw for 138 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of her passes, and also rushed for 46 yards and one TD. Those 138 passing yards gave Escoffery a new career-high. Tahjie 'TT' Freeman was another key receiver, picking up 54 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

North didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Hazel Kutsko and Yanelli Lopez Valentin were the leaders of the group effort as each produced two apiece. Kutsko got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

North didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-6 victory against Carl Hayden Community on the 18th. As for Camelback, they will host Casteel at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
