Preview: Carson Cougars vs. South Rowan Raiders
Carson is 8-1 against South Rowan since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Carson Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the South Rowan Raiders at 7:00 p.m.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Carson had to settle for a 30-27 loss against Central Cabarrus.
South Rowan never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against East Rowan last Friday. They took down the Mustangs 32-13.
Landon Richards was a one-man wrecking crew for South Rowan as he rushed for 288 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Richards was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards.
With Carson's loss and Central Cabarrus' victory, both teams now sport identical 3-6 records.
Carson strolled past South Rowan in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a score of 35-21. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was South Rowan's Bronson Hunt, who picked up 146 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Carson to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
