Softball Recap: Catholic Central Comes Up Short

Catholic Central extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 24 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They came up short against the Southeastern Local Trojans, falling 11-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 back in April.

As for Southeastern Local, their win bumped their record up to 18-3. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Southeastern Local's part, Reese R Wells and Allie Lewis made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, R Wells struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Lewis tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. R Wells has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, R Wells went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Lewis went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Southeastern Local let Addi Vanover and Kaylee K Wells run wild. Vanover went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while K Wells went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Another player making a difference was Kami Horner, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catholic Central will face off against Northeastern at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Jets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.59 runs per game on average), something the Irish will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Southeastern Local, they will challenge Triad at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
