Columbian's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Van Buren Black Knights, sneaking past 10-9. With that victory, the Tornadoes brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Columbian let Breanna McNutt and Emma Daugherty run wild. McNutt went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Daugherty went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Daugherty has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Olyvia Steinmetz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Columbian's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Van Buren, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbian will challenge Norwalk at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tornadoes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Truckers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Van Buren, they will take on Pandora-Gilboa at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rockets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.17 runs per game on average), something the Black Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
