Softball Game Preview: Brookville Bees vs. Rustburg Red Devils

Brookville is 2-8 against Rustburg since June of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bees will venture away from home to challenge the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m.

On Friday, Brookville came up short against Jefferson Forest and fell 6-1. The Bees have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Rustburg posted their closest win since March 21st on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Amherst County. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Laila Bigham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rustburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nahla Bigham, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Brookville's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Rustburg, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Brookville couldn't quite get it done against Rustburg in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 4-0. Can the Bees avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
