Softball Recap: Blue Ridge Victorious

Blue Ridge came out on top against Cerro Gordo/Bement on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Knights took their game against the Broncos 8-4. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Ellie Schlieper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addison Roos, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Lillian Enger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Blue Ridge's record is now 8-9. As for Cerro Gordo/Bement, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Looking ahead, Blue Ridge will challenge Okaw Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cerro Gordo/Bement, they are taking a road trip to take on Fisher at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
