Basketball Recap: Awaken Christian Lions vs. Adelson
The Awaken Christian Lions won the last time they faced Adelson, and things went their way on Thursday too. Awaken Christian strolled past the with points to spare, taking the game 58-39. That 19 point margin sets a new team best for Awaken Christian this season.
Awaken Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Phoenix Sharp out in front who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Sharp has scored at least a third of Awaken Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Alahna Payne, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Awaken Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Adelson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.
Awaken Christian will head out on the road to square off against the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (White Pine is ranked 59th, while the Lions are ranked 70th). As for Adelson, they will be playing at home against the Centurions at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Founders Classical Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
