Basketball Recap: Bishop O'dowd Beats Ygnacio Valley for Their Seventh Straight Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop O'Dowd). They were the clear victors by a 91-66 margin over the Ygnacio Valley Wolves on Thursday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Dragons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Wolves are ranked 600th).

Despite the loss, Ygnacio Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaelyn Cox posted 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for Cox. Another player making a difference was Jestus Akudinobi, who put up 11 points along with seven boards and three blocks.

The win keeps Bishop O'Dowd at an undefeated 7-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 82.0 points this season. As for Ygnacio Valley, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Bishop O'Dowd has already played their next matchup, an 82-37 loss against Sierra Canyon on the 13th. Ygnacio Valley and Mt. Diablo will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
