Softball Preview: Comanche Indians vs. Eastland Mavericks

Suggested Video

Comanche has won three straight games at home, while Eastland has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. Comanche will welcome Eastland at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Monday, Comanche was able to grind out a solid win over Tolar, taking the game 10-7.

Meanwhile, Eastland made easy work of Dublin last Friday and carried off a 15-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Ana Cunningham tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.

On the hitting side, Yozelyn Ojeda was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Beasley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Eastland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dublin only posted an OBP of .261.

Eastland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. Comanche's victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
