Basketball Game Preview: Neshoba Central Rockets vs. Warren Central Vikings

The Neshoba Central Rockets will face off against the Warren Central Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Neshoba Central's favor as the squad sits on 20 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Warren Central has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Neshoba Central turned things around against Columbus on Tuesday. They skirted past the Falcons 49-47. Given the Rockets' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Falcons are ranked 113th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Neshoba Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shastyn Lewis led the charge by putting up ten points and five boards. What's more, Lewis also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Iyley Denson, who posted eight points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Warren Central came up short against Vicksburg on Tuesday and fell 59-47.

Warren Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Neshoba Central, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-11.

Everything came up roses for Neshoba Central against Warren Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured an 86-20 win. In that matchup, Neshoba Central amassed a halftime lead of 53-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
