Basketball Recap: University Drops Highest Score of Season Against Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask University). They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 108-42 win over the Valley Vikings. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead University to victory, but perhaps none more so than Coehn Nitzel, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 assists. The dominant performance gave Nitzel a new career-high in assists. John Elbe was another key player, going 9 of 14 en route to 23 points and eight boards.

Nitzel wasn't the only one working in the assists department: University was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Valley still got an impressive performance from Maddox Woolverton, who posted 16 points. Brayden Mesch also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

University pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points per game. As for Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which lines up perfectly with their 4-12 record this season.

University didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-37 win against Fort Morgan on the 6th. Valley has also already played their next matchup, a 69-61 victory against Weld Central on the 6th.
