Volleyball Recap: Triopia/Virginia Trojans vs. Dunlap Eagles

Triopia/Virginia's tournament run continued when they took on Dunlap on Saturday. The Trojans fell 2-0 to the Eagles. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ava Petefish paced Triopia/Virginia's offense, picking up five kills. Petefish got some help from Ella Beard and her nine assists. Lucie Dion controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Dunlap's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Matheny, who had four digs and three blocks. That's the most digs Matheny has posted over her last seven games. Another player making a difference was Abby Scott, who had 11 digs.

Triopia/Virginia's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Dunlap, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

Coincidentally, Triopia/Virginia and Dunlap will both be playing Decatur Eisenhower the next time they take the court. The Trojans will head out to face the Panthers on Saturday, while the Eagles will play them later in the day, at 9:30 a.m.
