Softball Recap: Coronado Gets the Win

Coronado was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out the Valhalla Norsemen 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Islanders have posted since May 14, 2024.

Ali Pecus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jersey Cunningham, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cali Smith, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Coronado's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Valhalla, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-19.

Looking ahead, Coronado will host Crawford at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Valhalla, they will head out to take on Santana at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
