Softball Recap: Vincennes Lincoln Wins Going Away Against Mt. Vernon

Vincennes Lincoln had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Mt. Vernon on Thursday. The Alices blew past the Wildcats 14-7. This was payback for the Alices, who suffered a 6-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kahre McCrary and Grace Archer did most of the damage at the plate: McCrary went 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs, while Archer went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave McCrary a new career-high in RBI (three). Matti Collins also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The victory got Vincennes Lincoln back to even at 11-11. As for Mt. Vernon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Vincennes Lincoln will challenge Gibson Southern at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will venture away from home to take on Tell City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
