Basketball Recap: Skye Linyear's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Niskayuna over Averill Park

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Niskayuna can now relate to. They took a hard 57-38 fall against the Averill Park Warriors on Friday. The Silver Warriors haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Several Silver Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Skye Linyear, who posted 13 points and seven boards. Linyear is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Natalie Birmingham, who put up 12 points.

Niskayuna's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Averill Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Niskayuna does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Averill Park, they will take on Columbia at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Columbia knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Averill Park likes a good challenge.
