Basketball Game Preview: Hazlehurst Indians vs. Puckett Wolves

The Hazlehurst Indians will take on the Puckett Wolves in a tournament on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Hazlehurst put up the most points they have all season on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 75-49 margin over Enterprise. The contest was close at halftime, but the Indians turned on the heat in the second half with 44 points.

It was another big night for Jakavion Johnson, who posted 32 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Hazlehurst's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Murray, who had 15 points.

Meanwhile, in Friday's Canine Competition, Puckett didn't have enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 61-60 to Enterprise.

Hazlehurst is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games. As for Puckett, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Hazlehurst came out on top in a nail-biter against Puckett in their previous meeting last Thursday, sneaking past 63-61. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Wolves' Kaleb Coleman, who put up 32 points.
