Baseball Game Preview: Moore Catholic Mavericks vs. McKee Vo-Tech/Staten Island Tech

The Moore Catholic Mavericks will face off against McKee Vo-Tech/Staten Island Tech at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. Moore Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Moore Catholic lost a heartbreaker the last time they played All Hallows, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Mavericks never let the Gaels get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Friday. While the Mavericks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Moore Catholic got a great performance from JOHNNY FARERI as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave FARERI a new career-high.

On the hitting side, CAESER FIGUEROA was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of JUSTIN NELSON, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, McKee Vo-Tech/Staten Island Tech fell victim to Moore Catholic and their airtight pitching crew back in March. They lost 16-0 to the Mavericks. McKee Vo-Tech/Staten Island Tech has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Moore Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for McKee Vo-Tech/Staten Island Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Moore Catholic took their victory against McKee Vo-Tech/Staten Island Tech when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do McKee Vo-Tech/Staten Island Tech have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
