Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only El Modena walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Rosary Academy Royals 7-5. This was payback for the Vanguards, who suffered a 9-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Sara Pinedo tossed a big game, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Parker Mayes was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Galasso, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

El Modena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rosary Academy only posted a batting average of .185.

El Modena has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. As for Rosary Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at 17 games and leaves them with a 26-3-1 record.

Looking ahead, El Modena will square off against Notre Dame (SO) at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Vanguards surely won't give up without a fight. Rosary Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
