Southside Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Thornwell Saints as the Southside Christian Sabres made off with a 20-10 victory. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
For Thornwell's part, Madi Porter was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, a triple, and a run. Another player making a difference was Rose Yarborough, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Thornwell dropped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Southside Christian will be playing at home against Spartanburg Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Spartanburg Christian Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Southside Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Thornwell, they will head out on the road to take on McCormick at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
