Rancho San Juan extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping their season record down to 8-17 in the process. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stevenson Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-4 on Wednesday.
Rancho San Juan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Casarez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
As for Stevenson, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.
On Stevenson's side, Phinn Thomas was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Thomas also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Stevenson is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise. Thomas was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reggie Bell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Jacob Hall was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.
Rancho San Juan has already played their next match, an 8-1 defeat against Everett Alvarez on the 12th. As for Stevenson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-3 win against Greenfield on the 12th.
