Football Recap: Bishop Guilfoyle Piles Up the Points Against Homer-Center

Bishop Guilfoyle won the last time they faced Homer-Center and things went their way on Saturday too. The Marauders simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wildcats 42-0. Considering the Marauders have won six games by more than 23 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Keegan Hewitt was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 114 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 114 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Justin Wheeler was another key player, throwing for 181 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bishop Guilfoyle was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 283 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Homer-Center only rushed for 57.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Bishop Guilfoyle's defense and their seven sacks. Leading the way was Rocco Cacciotti with two. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last 15 games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Homer-Center's side was Jake Kissell, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Bishop Guilfoyle pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.4 points on average over those games. As for Homer-Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Bishop Guilfoyle will square off against Juniata Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Homer-Center does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
