Softball Recap: Cowan Blackhawks vs. Madison-Grant Argylls
Cowan had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 6-13 to make it five. They came up short against the Madison-Grant Argylls, falling 14-1. If the Blackhawks were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Argylls when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Cowan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Savannah Hall, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. Candice Matson was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.
As for Madison-Grant, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.
On Madison-Grant's side, Demie Havens was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Wood, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Coincidentally, Cowan and Madison-Grant will both be playing Jay County the next time they take the field. The Blackhawks will head out to face the Patriots at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, while the Argylls will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
