The Mesa Verde Mavericks will face off against the Center Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Mesa Verde is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.

Mesa Verde took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Sacramento with a sharp 9-2 victory. While the Mavericks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Jonny Alger was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Center suffered their biggest loss since May 2, 2024 on Friday. They lost 10-2 to Wheatland. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mesa Verde's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2-1.
