Basketball Recap: Lake View Comes Up Short

Lake View lost against Carvers Bay back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lake View Wild Gators lost to the Carvers Bay Bears at home by a 54-37 margin. The defeat leaves the Wild Gators without a win on the season.

Despite the loss, Lake View saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cameron Wheeler posted four points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamere Barden, who earned four points.

Even though they lost, Lake View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carvers Bay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kenard Heyward, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 20 points. With that strong performance, Heyward is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquan Hannah, who put up nine points and seven rebounds.

Lake View's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Carvers Bay, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake View will take on Latta at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Carvers Bay, they will host Hemingway at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Carvers Bay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season.
