Softball Recap: South Putnam Comes Up Short

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, South Putnam was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They fell just short of the North Putnam Cougars by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 back in April.

Taylor Boyce spent all 12 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Elliana Cox was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

South Putnam's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for North Putnam, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-5.

South Putnam wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Northview on the 13th. As for North Putnam, they have also already played their next matchup, a 4-3 win against Southmont on the 12th.
