Baseball Recap: East Central Wins Going Away Against Franklin County

East Central's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Franklin County Wildcats with a sharp 11-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Cole Reynolds made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Ryan Ott was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Long, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

East Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin County only posted an OBP of .269.

The victory got East Central back to even at 1-1. As for Franklin County, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Coming up, East Central will welcome Columbus North at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin County will be paying especially close attention to the Trojans' contest: after the Trojans faces off against the Bull Dogs, they'll take on Franklin County again at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
