Basketball Game Preview: Elkmont Red Devils vs. Clements Colts

Having just played yesterday, the Elkmont Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Clements Colts at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Elkmont will be strutting in after a victory while Clements will be coming in after a loss.

Elkmont is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering to the tune of 79-7 on Thursday. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Red Devils had established a 62 point advantage.

Elkmont found their leader in freshman Makayla Nowlin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Nowlin a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Gracie Howell, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 11 points and three steals.

Elkmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Clements came up short against Colbert County on Tuesday and fell 54-42. The Colts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clements' defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Elkmont, their win bumped their record up to 7-16.

Elkmont lost to Clements on the road by a decisive 58-39 margin in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can Elkmont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
