Baseball Game Preview: Montgomery Cougars vs. Hopewell Valley Central Bulldogs

The Montgomery Cougars will square off against the Hopewell Valley Central Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Montgomery has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Montgomery fell victim to Watchung Hills Regional and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 14-0 to the Warriors.

Allentown hit Hopewell Valley Central with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs fell 10-7 to the Redbirds.

Hopewell Valley Central got a good showing from Nate Gross, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Chase Garrow made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Jaykob Shin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Hopewell Valley Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-7-1. As for Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Montgomery was able to grind out a solid victory over Hopewell Valley Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
