Baseball Preview: Pine City Dragons vs. Mora Mustangs
Pine City hasn't had much luck against Mora recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dragons will welcome the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Pine City will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Pine City's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Rush City as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The game was the first time the Dragons have beaten the Tigers on their field since May 17, 2019.
Ezrah Barth made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Caleb Hogberg was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jacob Staber was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Mora and Crosby-Ironton have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Mustangs took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rangers.
