Basketball Preview: Rivercrest Colts vs. Osceola Seminoles

Rivercrest is 2-8 against the Seminoles since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Rivercrest Colts will head out on the road to square off against the Osceola Seminoles at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rivercrest has three straight victories, the Seminoles have three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Thursday, Rivercrest beat the Hornets 49-38. 49 seems to be a good number for Rivercrest as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Rivercrest's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Destiny Burks, who scored 23 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Burks has scored at least a third of Rivercrest's points. Another player making a difference was Zakiyah Brownlee, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.

Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Osceola, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-41 loss to the Hornets two weeks ago.

Rivercrest is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Osceola, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Everything came up roses for Rivercrest against the Seminoles when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 53-22 victory. With Rivercrest ahead 32-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
