Recap: New Covenant Gryphons vs. Veritas School Lions
The New Covenant Gryphons entered their tilt with the Veritas School Lions with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. New Covenant came out on top against Veritas School by a score of 40-30 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for New Covenant, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
New Covenant's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ellie Jacobs led the charge by scoring three points along with six steals. Jacobs hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Charlotte Libbey was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
New Covenant's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. As for Veritas School, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
New Covenant on the road again on Tuesday and play against Carlisle at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Carlisle presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than New Covenant in Virginia (Carlisle is ranked 49th, while New Covenant is ranked 161st). As for Veritas School, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome St. Michael the Archangel at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. St. Michael the Archangel's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so Veritas School's offense will have their work cut out for them.
