Baseball Recap: Danville Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Danville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against the Lebanon Tigers by a score of 7-3 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Garrett Groce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has become a key player for Danville: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least ten strikeouts, but 7-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Warner, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. Danville is 3-1 when Warner posts one or more home runs, but 6-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Chiodo, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Danville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted in their last 12 contests.

Danville's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Lebanon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-21 record this season.

Danville will have a chance to go back-to-back against Lebanon: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
