Basketball Recap: Brandeis' Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Brandeis was the 72-56 winner over LEE when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Brandeis Broncos fell 67-59 to the LEE Volunteers on Saturday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Broncos came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Volunteers are ranked 784th).

When it comes to explaining why Brandeis lost, don't look at Finley Montoya. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 18 en route to 20 points. Montoya has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Tisdall, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Brandeis' defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-11. As for LEE, with the win, they broke their 16-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-20.

Brandeis has already played their next game (against Churchill), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. LEE will host SA Roosevelt at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. LEE is on a four-game streak of home losses, SA Roosevelt a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change.
