Basketball Game Preview: Benson Tech Astros vs. Jesuit Crusaders

Benson Tech and Jesuit are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. Both will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Jesuit took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Benson Tech, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Benson Tech was able to grind out a solid win over Nelson, taking the game 56-45. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Astros.

Meanwhile, Jesuit ended up a good deal behind South Medford on Friday and lost 65-48. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Benson Tech will need focus on slowing down Audrey Bayless, one of several Jesuit players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 17 points and six assists. Those six assists gave Bayless a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ceanna Forney, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 13 points.

Benson Tech pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.9 points per game. As for Jesuit, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Benson Tech beat Jesuit 56-43 when the teams last played back in March of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Jesuit's Avery Edwards, who put up 22 points. Now that she won't be playing on Sunday, will it be easier for Benson Tech to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
