Basketball Game Preview: Nazareth Academy Roadrunners vs. Saint Viator Lions

Nazareth Academy and Saint Viator are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Nazareth Academy Roadrunners will head out on the road to square off against the Saint Viator Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Nazareth Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.

Last Tuesday, Nazareth Academy didn't have too much trouble with Providence Catholic as they won 64-48.

Nazareth Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Danny Wrzensinski, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds, and Sawyer Holstine, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points. Those 15 points gave Holstine a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rasim Johnson, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points.

Meanwhile, Saint Viator entered their tilt with Niles Notre Dame on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They snuck past the Dons with a 52-47 win.

Saint Viator is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Nazareth Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Nazareth Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Saint Viator in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 57-53 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nazareth Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
